How do I get rid of skunks under my deck or shed?
Skunks will take advantage of cavities under decks and sheds to raise their young. However, they are nomadic by nature and usually leave when their young are old enough. The simplest option is to wait for the skunks to leave on their own, then seal off their entry hold with hardware cloth. You can also encourage the skunks to evict themselves by spraying a repellent around your shed or poking some ammonia-sprinkled rags underneath. Be careful not to poke the skunks!
If you can't wait for the skunks to leave on their own, contact 911 Wildlife to install a one-way door over your main entry and seal off other openings. The skunk will be able to get out but not back in.

How can I remove skunks from my garage?Skunks commonly wander into open garages when the door is left open. To combat this, just open the garage door before dark. Skunks have terrible eyesight, so as long as you move slowly and quietly, the skunk will hardly notice you. Leave a two-foot band of flour across the outside of the garage and watch for footprints to confirm that the skunk has left. To neutralize any unpleasant odors, a non-toxic deodorizer called 'Odors Away' can be purchased at local hardware stores.

How do I get rid of a skunk inside my house?Try to isolate the skunk in one room by closing all doors and erecting barriers (such as screens or boards) to gently funnel the skunk back out the way he came in. Cat doors pose a continual problem because skunks and other wildlife smell the cat food inside and can't resist. We recommend eliminating cat doors altogether and training your cats to become indoor cats; their lifespan will be 13 to 15 years compared to outdoor cats, who only live 2 to 5 years. In addition, outdoor cats attack hundreds of millions of birds every year and three times as many small mammals. If you absolutely cannot keep your cat indoors, resolve to put out food only during the middle of the day while nocturnal wild animals are sleeping. If you must have a cat door, either lock it at night (remember that skunks are generally nocturnal) or get magnetic doors that open when close to your cat's collar.

Houston Skunk Removal Services
Although skunks are less-than-desirable visitors around our homes, they're not always the aggressive or dangerous invaders we believe them to be.
Skunks are omnivorous, eating both plant and animal material and changing their diet as the seasons change. They are also quite docile and benign, as their severe nearsightedness often gets them in trouble. A skunk's only defense is a noxious odor created by sulfuric acid, although they use this only on rare occasions and only as a last resort.
911 Wildlife believes people highly misunderstand skunks and offers a three-step prevention program that ensures the safety of you, your pets, and the skunks in question.
Here's what that looks like:
- We install a one-way door over the main entry (and seal any other openings). The animal can get out but not back in.
- We only remove animals if they are stuck somewhere and cannot get out. If this is the case, our experts will be on the scene to help however they can.
- We build up your exclusion barrier by animal-proofing your home. We will seal all cracks, gaps, and crevices.
